Gul Holding is looking for a Group Head of Supply Chain and Legal to join our Group Supply Chain team in Erbil and lead supply chain and legal operations across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. This role is responsible for protecting supply continuity and legal compliance across all group companies. It is an opportunity for an experienced executive who can align operations with regulatory and commercial risk across federal Iraq and the KRG.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Define and execute the group supply chain strategy, aligned with business growth plans and the annual operating plan.
- Establish a common operating model, policies, standards and decision rights across all regions and business units.
- Lead the sales and operations planning (S&OP / IBP) process with Commercial and Finance.
- Cross-company synergies: identify opportunities for shared resources, cost savings and best practices across group companies.
- Own the group sourcing strategy, category management and supplier portfolio, including negotiation of strategic contracts.
- Deliver cost savings, working capital improvement and supplier performance targets.
- Build supplier relationships that support innovation, quality and continuity of supply.
- Drive demand and supply planning accuracy and the right level of inventory across the network.
- Balance service levels against cost and working capital.
- Provide strategic direction on the transport, warehousing and distribution network across federal Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, including 3PL and 4PL partners and cross-border and internal-boundary routes.
- Import and landed cost optimisation: identify opportunities to reduce freight, customs clearance, transportation and handling costs.
- Customs and government relations: support complex customs issues, regulatory changes and cross-border movements between the KRG and federal Iraq, and oversee trade compliance across both regimes.
- Strategic logistics negotiations: negotiate better rates and terms with freight forwarders, shipping companies and logistics service providers.
- Logistics risk and controls: strengthen inventory security, stock movement controls, cargo insurance and loss prevention.
- Supply chain efficiency: identify improvements in shipment lead times, warehouse utilisation and distribution efficiency.
- Work in support of each company's Logistics Manager, focusing on strategic support, optimisation and major issues, without interfering in daily operations or existing reporting lines.
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, Law or related field
- 15+ years in supply chain, including 5+ years in senior leadership over multi-site and multi-jurisdiction operations
- Strong experience across procurement, planning, logistics, manufacturing operations and network design
- Experience with federal Iraqi and KRG authorities on customs, licensing and regulatory matters
- Experience managing contracts, disputes and compliance with in-house legal teams and external counsel
- Sound knowledge of trade compliance, customs, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, ESG and risk management
- Fluent in English; Arabic and/or Kurdish strongly preferred
- MBA, master's degree, CSCP/CPIM/CPSM certification or S&OP/IBP, category management, inventory optimisation and logistics knowledge is an advantage
